The family of the missing Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra ( IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has flayed the Swiss embassy in Abuja for allegedly denying visa to some family members invited by the United Nations to the 116th United Nations Human Rights Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances.
Spokesman of the family, Prince Emmanuel Kanu told Wawa News Global that the family members were invited by UN as key witnesses of the mass murder committed by the security operatives when the family compound was invaded during the 2017 Operation Python Dance ll.
He regretted that instead of granting visas to the invitees the Swiss embassy in Abuja turned down their visa application.
Prince Kanu wondered why the Swiss embassy would constitute itself an impediment to the family’s bid to get justice over the unprovoked invasion of the family house and disappeance of their beloved ones including their parents, HRM Eze Israel Kanu, the royal father of Afaraukwu community; and his wife, Lolo Sally Kanu.

He accused the embassy of conspiracy, collusion and unholy dealings with Abuja to frustrate the family and help the Nigerian state escape punishment.
Kanu also said that apart from the family members, key IPOB members who witnessed the genocide at Afaraukwu were also denied visas.
He further said some Amazonians fleeing persecutions in Cameroun were equally denied visa by the Swiss embassy who he accused of colluding with oppressive administrations to suppress freedom fighters.

It baffles the world to see the Switzerland Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Eric Mayoraz who supervises all the activities of his country’s embassy situated at Plot 157, Adetokunbo Ademola crescent, Wuse II Abuja, displaying such insensitivity towards the plight of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by refusing them entry Visas to come and render testimonies of the inhumane treatment against Biafrans to the United Nations(UN) Human Rights Violations Committee concerning the military invasion on 14th September, 2017 at the home of His Royal Majesty, Eze Israel Okwu-Kanu, the father of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In case the Switzerland embassy is oblivious of what actually transpired on the above date, in the palace of the IPOB leader’s royal family, then, it is only pertinent they understand that on 14th September last year, a violent group of the Nigerian Army, in compliance to the irrational orders of the Nigerian government, invaded the royal compound where IPOB members and some other visitors of the IPOB leader were singing and clapping when all of a sudden, they discovered some Nigerian soldiers firing teargas canisters and raining live bullets on the defenseless and unarmed members who were occupants of the compound.
This operation lasted for about 3 hours and at the end of the unprovoked invasion, the trigger-happy military officers left in their trail, 38 dead bodies, including a dog (Jack) and over 262 people displaced while the IPOB leader and his parents were abducted by the rampaging soldiers as they have not been seen anywhere nor heard from since after the invasion.
This incident was widely reported by most mainstream world media outlets, including the BBC and CNN. Recently, a shallow grave was discovered somewhere in Ukwa West District in Abia State, containing the decomposing bodies of over 180 bodies amongst the disappearing members of IPOB. This discovery was exposed through a report published by Amnesty International (AI) after their independent investigation.
Though the UN and other international bodies are not unaware of what happened and continued to happen, the UN wish to hear from the surviving members of the family who were present on the day of the invasion but regrettably, Switzerland that prides itself as a civilized nation of the world has failed to display this civility at this critical point in time. IPOB worldwide and the entire civilized world highly regret this ignoble role the Switzerland embassy in Abuja is playing in aiding and abetting impunity in an uncivilized Nigeria.

The entire members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide join other civilized nations of the world in urging the Switzerland Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Mayoraz to tow the part of honour and rescind his decision not to grant visas to members of Kanu’s family to visit Swiss on the invitation of the United Nations and do the needful by granting them urgent visas to appear before the UN body.

His words : “Some of our family members who were invited by this same United Nations could not understand why they should be denied visas.
“Some Ambazonians who fled Cameroun to Nigeria who were also invited to the United nations by this same working group were also denied visas.
“The reason for the invitation is to state categorically as eye withnesses to the United Nations on what happened on the 14th of September 2017 when the Nigerian Army illegally invaded the home of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu ,the ipob leader .
“For the fact that you house the world body does not give you the right to deny victims and key eyewitness of torture and genocide visas even when the same world body invites them”.
The family therefore appealed to the UN as well as the United States of America and other human rights promoting nations to prevail on the Swiss Government to do the needful, saying it amounts to crime against humanity to deny justice to the innocent.
Recall that Kanu ‘s whereabouts has remained a source of controversy since after the September 14 military raid of his country home.
But the Army has continued to deny any involvement in the alleged invasion which IPOB said claimed the lives of over 28 of its members, while scores still remain unaccounted for.
Some of the decomposed corpses of IPOB membets killed in Abia
Just last month the pro-Biafra group alerted the world of decomposed bodies discovered in the forest around Ukwa area, claiming that they were some of its members who were killed during the Operation Python Dance in 2017.
